Earlier this year, along with my prayer group, I read “Radical” by David Platt. It was eye-opening! He really explored how we are to live for Christ and what we as disciples of Christ and as the body (i.e. the church) are really responsible for!
He challenged today’s attitude and thought of, “I gotta get mine, you gotta get yours.” He proved bibilically our call and mission to lead others to Christ and to take care of them, as commanded by Christ Himself!
It truly was not only a wake-up call, but also a challenge to live “against the grain”. It’s easy to yield to a materialistic society, yet anytime we give in to the world’s pressures to live that way, there’s always a void.
It was truly inspirational, thought-provoking, and life-changing!
I just finished reading “The Hiding Place” by Corrie Ten Boom. I was so moved by the simple life and testimony of the Ten Boom family and what they indured during the Nazi occupation of Holland. Corrie and sister Betsie were taken to Ravensbruck where Betsie died, they endured unbelievable hardship in this concentration camp, but never complained and only looked for opportunity to obey God and share the gospel. It put me to shame.
In the midst of multiple health issues this summer I was given a copy of “When Your World Falls Apart” by David Jeremiah. I found it to be extremely uplifting and helpful in regard to putting life’s “disruptive moments” in proper perspective. I find myself going back again and again to re-read several of the chapters.
