I come to Jesus every morning with a coffee and a daily reading and meditation from ODJ. I am going to try and read the Holy Bible in a year in 2013 with the help of ODJ. I can sincerely say I

A mentor did so many helpful things for me—pointing me to God’s Word, teaching me to memorize it, encouraging me pray, equipping me to share my faith, etc. But the thing that truly stood out was that he repeatedly expressed that he saw great value and potential in me as a disciple of Jesus. Affirmation goes a long way as we work toward sanctification!
Nine years ago on April 4, I also lost my father. After work, he spent most of his time doing for others. Even after working seven days a week at times, he would still mow the yards of some of our elderly relatives. Once my father retired, he and my mom would spend time running errands for elderly neighbors and relatives. My folks testimony of how to serve others still speaks to me today. If you can hear me dad, I Love You for showing me how to receive joy by serving others.
Thanks for sharing these thoughts, klutz01! It sounds like your parents have given you an amazing example to follow. I’m so grateful for the example of my own parents who selflessly gave to so many over the years. They did it quietly and without fanfare—giving God the glory. May we serve live in a similar way!
